Jared Mongeau
Bio
Jared Mongeau became interested in all aspects of the performing arts at a very young age. As a teenager, he learned from and performed with renowned Clown and physical theatre artists and toured with the esteemed Circus Smirkus. At the age of 18, Jared signed a contract with the historic Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey as a clown. For the next two years, he lived on their world-famous circus train, traveling across the country performing upwards of 500 shows a season.
In 2016, he graduated Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre’ MFA
program, and his thesis, In the Trenches, has toured theatre festivals
internationally. He has studied with Chicago's acclaimed 500Clown and
traveled to Bali, Indonesia, to learn traditional performance and mask carving.
He collaborated with former Dell'Arte school director Ronlin Foreman to
create This is Just Intermission, a solo digital-physical comedy. Inspired
by the isolation of COVID-19, it explored the paradox of live theater in
the virtual realm, produced by Mad Horse Theatre Company.
Career highlights include originating the Mad Hatter in Jane Doe in
Wonderland, theatre combatting sex trafficking featured on CNN; puppeteering in
the movie Holly Star with Figures of Speech Theatre; appearing
on the Today Show and in ads for Honda and Samuel Adams Beer; touring Europe
with his band, That Dog Was a Band Now; playing accordion on London's West
End; and creating the five-time award-winning comedy Aardvark Boat Tours,
which presented a special show for the United States Association of Fringe
Festivals.
